He was the artist to watch in 2007, and many established artists took notice, and looked past his misleading indie rocker persona… just as well as a lot of hip hop artists today are wearing rock star gear.
Russian born Ivan Ives now makes his living in Los Angeles not just rhyming, but also makes his own videos and got millions of YouTube hits with no advertising and all out of his own pocket… now he feels it’s necessary to make his latest video/single dedicated to just that: His ‘8mm’ app that he so happened to make this video with, recapturing lost memories and breaks it down into four elements: Love, Time, Work & Fate. So there’s no need for Little X or Hype Williams here!
Check the video out below.
The RJD2 produced ‘8mm’ is the first single from his sophomore album ‘Stranger’, expect more conceptual work from Ivan Ives just like his 2010 predecessor ‘First Of The Month’, where he released a new video every 1st of the month throughout that year. Ives has previously worked with a who’s who in hip hop: Cappadonna, O.C., Black Milk, Percee P & Oh No, to name a few. It just goes to show that you don’t need super producers/directors to make it big.
