DATA – Angel Ft. Whitney

DatafromlestaCourtney Burke has come a long way. About say 15 years to be exact. A man burning with desire and enthusiasm, and that fire has not been extinguished rather, the fire has spread. Accolades under his belt such as diplomas in performing musician, creative music production, and most notably BBC Radio 1Xtra’s best homegrown track of the week, this Garage turned versatile MC known as Data from Leicester is the latest unsigned artist to watch in RePPiN 4U.

Coming from his latest EP: This Is Me, we see Data unzipping his heart and pours out his love for his family in a track simply entitled ‘FAMILY’.

But the crowning jewel has to be his latest single – ‘Angel’ Featuring Whitney. It is rare when a track from an unsigned artist immediately grips the listener and locks them in like a vice. This is an ode to his daughter of the same name. Whitney’s heartfelt vocals compliment the dreamy instrumental while Data gives a story of how his life has changed now that he has a child but more importantly a girl which is a real eye opener. Established artists like Nas laid the foundation whereas Data built on the most precious gift of his life. This is a track that will have fathers (and even those who are not fathers) who can relate reaching for the rewind button multiple times.

Be on the lookout for the exclusive video of Angel in the new year. In the meantime, check out his previous EP ‘Self Catering’, which he sold 200 copies to his community. Listen to his freestyle right here that shows his versatility.
