PS The Rebels

If you claim to be a hip hop fan but your definition of it involves blinging, autotune ‘swag’, lyrics with no real substance, then this next artist (and this site for that matter) is not for you, unless you want to learn the righteous way. Enter PS The Rebels,  who are Phion and SamUiLL, Kenyan born eMCees representing Dallas in the state of Texas. They have made it their mission to bring about a revolution through their music.

Influenced by a skilled set of veteran hip hop greats such as Canibus, Tupac, Saigon, Royce Da 5’9 as well as the genius contributions of musical great Michael Jackson, Pihon displays an exclusive talent for effectively combining complex rhyme schemes & unparalleled flow.
SamUiLL is proof that only something extraordinary occurs when two worlds collide. Blending an unrivaled mix of thought-provoking lyrics, soulful sounds, and eclectic beats keep listeners entertained and edutained. Early influences from Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, The Roots to 2-Pac give the foundation for the melodious, rhythmic and revolutionary vibrations that create the original sound of SamUiLL.

Their album, Vibrations: Headphone Muzik/Speaker Musik is a 20 track opus, full of hip hop/reggae/african roots inspired sounds and thought-provoking subject matters from religion, racism, history to social economic injustices. case in point, their track ‘Comrade’, where they call out so-called fellow revolutionists that claim they are for the cause but when it comes down to it are they for real. Their Bob Marley inspired track ‘Unite Us’, not on the album but features 7Knuckles and Slim Gravy (ADd+) is a call for black people to unite and stop the divide and conquer behaviour we insist on doing, meanwhile the government are the real enemy who are laughing at our foolish ways. The duo’s goal to teach the youth and empower the motherland will not be denied. This album’s intention does exactly what it says on the tin, this is one for your headphones and speakers to absorb, party people need not apply. They can be found opening up shows for like-minded artists such as Immortal Technique, Brand Nubian and Dead Prez. With Pharoahe Monch expected to work with the Rebels in the near future, expect RePPiN 4U to bring you the exclusives. Black Chamber is the Movement!
